Don't Choose the Wrong Path: A Guide to selecting the right solution for your business needs.

The Camino de Santiago, a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, is a legendary trek known for its spiritual significance and breathtaking scenery. Much like embarking on the Camino, selecting a Digital Experience Platform Provider requires careful planning, perseverance, and a touch of judgment. After all, choosing the right partner and the best option can make all the difference in your business journey.

This article will guide you through the key stages of selecting the right solution, as if it were helping pilgrims to reach Santiago de Compostela.

Phase 1: Define your Destination and Research the Routes

Before lacing up your boots for the Camino, you establish your endpoint, Santiago de Compostela, and how to get to this beautiful city. There are many different routes, some with many hills and mountains to cross and others with flatter roads through beautiful vineyards and charming villages. Each with its own challenges and rewards.

Similarly, begin by outlining your specific business and compliance needs. What problem are you trying to solve? Does Liferay help me to comply with my obligations regarding Personal Data Protection? What functionalities are essential? A clear roadmap ensures you select a technology that aligns with your goals.

Liferay Sales Engineering Team works closely with its Partners and Customers to understand their specific business and compliance goals to choose the most suitable option.

Phase 2: Pack Light

For the Camino, packing light is crucial, but the pilgrims can always choose: Do you want to carry a 10kg bag, or Would you prefer someone to carry your bag for you? Nowadays there is a service at a very reasonable price that carries your bag from one village to the other and walkers only have to worry about carrying just enough to get through the day.

The same applies when you have to make the decision to create and maintain your IT Infrastructure on your own premises or relying on Cloud Services managed by a third party. Do you want to continue carrying the heavy and expensive bag of your premises?

Liferay offers its Cloud Services through Liferay PaaS, where you will be able to develop using modular Java components and through Liferay SaaS where, in addition, you will enjoy regular platform upgrades and fixes applied by the Liferay team.
Liferay SaaS is hosted and fully managed by the Liferay team. We update the platform regularly so it can benefit from the fixes, improvements, and security updates developed for the Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP), so Customers can always count on the innovation velocity of Liferay, our partners, and our global community without worrying about upgrades or keeping up to date with new features

With a lightweight bag, let Liferay handle everything. You will also be able to build enhanced portal experiences with Out Of the Box Liferay capabilities, enjoy a Liferay Analytics workspace for data insights for your portal and manage extension environments with an Admin Console.

Liferay helps Customers to focus on what really matters, creating and launching your business applications.

And this is not the end of the story. You can rely on Liferay to help you to meet your own organization’s compliance efforts.
To the extent that Liferay processes personal data on behalf of its customers in the provision of its Cloud Services, Liferay is committed to processing data in accordance with the following commitments:

  • Liferay commits itself to implementing appropriate Technical and Organizational Measures.
  • Liferay commits itself to only processing Personal Data in accordance with the instructions of the customer.
  • Liferay is only allowed to involve sub-processors who provide for the same level of protection and Liferay assumes an obligation to ensure that any data transfers to such sub-processors are in-line with the applicable data transfer requirements.
  • Liferay commits itself to enable exporting or deleting the data upon expiration of the Subscription Services and supports customer's efforts to comply with any received data subject requests.
  • Liferay assumes an obligation to cooperate with customers on any audits required under the applicable data protection laws in order to establish a proof of compliant processing of personal data by Liferay.
  • Liferay commits itself to notifying customers without undue delay of any data breaches.

Pack light and enjoy the walk, enjoy the views and do not think about anything else.

Phase 3: Buen Camino!

With everything prepared, you embark on the Camino. Don't forget to warm up your muscles before you start walking every morning. Even if you carry less weight than expected in your bag, the stages of the Camino are long and you will most likely get blisters on your feet or sprain an ankle, which will not prevent you from reaching Santiago, but you have to be cautious.

In the same way, the Security of our Customers' information hosted in our infrastructure and the Support we offer them is very important.

Liferay has implemented Technical and Organizational Measures in-line with industry standards and has a team of experts making sure our services are secure at all times. Our dedicated team has developed and implemented a ISMS Program to ensure that we check the effectiveness of our security, and to review and improve our security measures constantly - as evidenced by the ISO 27001/27017/ 27018, SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, and CSA STAR Level 2 certifications obtained by Liferay.

Also, Liferay has a Data Incident Response Policy in place and provides for a contractual commitment to notify Customers in any event of a data breach without undue delay and Backup routines are run every 30 minutes, are encrypted at rest, and permanently retained

We will work with our customers on possible incidents twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, (“24x7”).
